About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Literacy Teaching Assistant to join our team at a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets. Your role will focus on working with small groups of students who face challenges with literacy and learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted literacy support to students in small groups, tailoring activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel confident to engage and thrive.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to plan and deliver effective literacy interventions.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers where appropriate.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging them to develop their confidence and love of learning.
About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for education and supporting students with learning difficulties.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
  • Is able to adapt to the diverse needs of students and motivate them to achieve their potential.
  • Ideally has prior experience working with young people or within an educational setting (experience supporting students with learning difficulties is desirable).
  • Holds a GCSE (or equivalent) in English at grade C or above.
