SEN Teaching Assistant | Wandsworth | Kingston-upon-Thames

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive and community driven school in Wandsworth. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who have special educational needs (SEN) and support their learning and development in a primary school setting.

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth, London
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, to term-time
Salary: £480-£520 per week, pro rata

SEN Teaching Assistant | Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to students with a variety of SEN, including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language delays, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students.
  • Help students with learning tasks, ensuring they are able to access the curriculum and participate fully in class activities.
  • Support with behaviour management, encouraging positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Observe and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and working closely with parents and external agencies when required.
  • Assist in the delivery of individual or small group interventions to support academic and personal development.
 
SEN Teaching Assistant | Key Requirements:

  • A 1st Class or 2:1 degree from a top 20 University
  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly within a primary school setting, is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting children with a wide range of needs.
  • Strong communication skills, both with students and adults, including staff and parents.
  • A good understanding of the key stages of primary education and how to support children with SEN.
