The Opportunity:Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a Key Stage 2 SEN provision in a mainstream school in Havering. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with children requiring additional support, helping them to thrive in their learning and personal development.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
  • A good understanding of strategies and interventions to support children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with children who have complex needs.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils within the SEN provision.
  • Assisting the class teacher in adapting lessons and activities to meet the needs of SEN pupils.
  • Supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of the children.
  • Implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitoring pupil progress.
  • Encouraging positive behavior and promoting independence among pupils.
  • Collaborating with the wider school team to create a safe and supportive environment for all learners.
