The Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a Key Stage 1 pupil with ASD, helping them navigate their learning environment and reach their potential. This role requires someone with a nurturing approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to the child's individual needs.

What You'll Do as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
  • Work 1:1 with the pupil, providing emotional and academic support tailored to their specific needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating and delivering lessons that engage and motivate the child.
  • Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and social interaction.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to monitor and track progress.
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil to foster confidence and independence.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, ideally with children who have ASD.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to working with pupils with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with staff and parents.
  • A commitment to making a positive impact on the child's development and well-being.
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and approaches is desirable but not essential.
