Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs? Do you have a patient, empathetic nature and a commitment to helping children reach their full potential?

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant on behalf of a two-form entry Mainstream Primary School local to Waltham Forest to start Summer Term- April 22nd. In this role, you will be crucial in providing tailored support to children with a range of educational needs, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support with children facing a range of learning difficulties, such as Non-Verbal Autism and challenging behaviours.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement tailored learning strategies and interventions.
  • Support students in their personal, social, and emotional development, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers and parents to provide updates on development.
  • Assist with the management of behaviour in line with the school's policies and provide additional emotional support where necessary.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience working with children in an educational or similar setting, ideally with SEND experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with children, parents, and other professionals.
  • Patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the needs of individual children.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent), ideally with a focus on Special Educational Needs (desirable)
