GSL Education are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) with experience in SEN and SEMH support to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Haringey. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners who require additional support to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

About the role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with students facing challenges such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties and behavioural needs. You will be responsible for delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions, ensuring that each child receives the tailored support necessary to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Provide individual and group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Promote the social, emotional and academic development of students by using structured interventions.
  • Implement positive behaviour management techniques, helping students build resilience and self-confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
  • Encourage independence and engagement, supporting students in their personal and academic growth.
  • Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials to meet diverse needs.
  • Provide pastoral and emotional support, ensuring that all students feel valued and understood.

Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Experience supporting children with SEN and SEMH needs in a school or similar setting.
  • A relevant qualification, such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE Diploma, or equivalent, is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach when supporting students with complex needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
