SEN Teaching Assistant - Wandsworth

Engage Education is partnering with a well-established therapeutic SEN school in South London that specializes in supporting children and young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Autism (ASC/ASD). The school is currently looking to expand its team and is seeking up to 3 Teaching Assistants to join them. Many of the pupils come from disadvantaged backgrounds and face challenges such as anxiety and trauma.

About the Role:

The students at this school have a range of needs, including but not limited to:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC/ASD)
  • Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD)
  • Sensory learning needs

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with students from challenging backgrounds.
  • Be comfortable working with children and young people on the Autism spectrum, whether through professional or personal experience.
  • Understand the challenges faced by those with SEMH issues.
  • Have direct experience supporting young people with mental health needs.
  • Come from a background in similar school settings, residential care, social work, or youth work.
  • Exhibit a positive, flexible mindset with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Hold Team Teach or MAPA training (encouraged but not essential).
