SEN Case Officer

Hatched Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a SEN Case Officer in the Camden area.

Role Purpose:

To support CSF Special Educational Needs Team in fulfilling its role in carrying out the statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments of children and young people with special educational needs (SEN).

To ensure EHC needs assessments are carried out in a timely way in collaboration with involved professionals and families.

To support the service in maintaining effective organisation and data management processes during the statutory EHC needs assessment process and/or related case-work.

The administration of the EHC needs assessment process is implemented in accordance with statutory guidelines:

* Parents and professionals contribute advice in a timely way in relation to the statutory assessment of individual children and young people undergoing assessment

* Assessment Co-ordinators, Planning and Placement Officers and other professionals including named staff in schools, early years and college settings are aware of deadlines and requirements

* Parents are aware of and engaged in the process

* All parental and practitioner advice is available, using agreed information management systems

* Draft plans are written, in conjunction with Assessment Co-ordinators, in a timely way

* Input by all involved professionals to the EHC needs assessment process is co-ordinated so that statutory timescales are met.

Knowledge, experience and skills:

* Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to build good working relationships

* Excellent knowledge and application of IT systems and software packages including Microsoft WORD, Excel and Access and willingness to learn new skills and systems.

* Excellent levels of literacy and numeracy.

* Effective written and verbal communication

* Ability to work flexibly, balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines whilst understanding the needs, timescales and deadlines of others

* Ability to maintain accurate, confidential records

* Knowledge of SEN and Equalities Legislation (Children and Families Act 2014, 0-25 Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice, Equalities Act 2010)
