Behaviour Mentor - Primary SEN School - Hackney

An all through SEN School in Hackney is looking to recruit Behaviour Mentors to join their dynamic team.

The school aims to equip children with the skills they need to be successful. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be working in a school that aims to help learners overcome their barriers to learning, which may be about improving their behaviour or some other aspects of their learning. There is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy especially for younger students.

You will be working across KS1 & KS2 supporting pupils with behaviour difficulties, and helping them to grow and develop, both in terms of academic and social / pastoral progress. It’s a fantastic role with huge potential for caring and driven graduates who are keen to make a difference daily.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be dedicated to supporting all students to achieve, with a strong emphasis on learning and maintaining a calm learning environment.

Person Specification - Behaviour Mentor

  • Strong academics throughout - degree (ideal, but not essential), A levels & GCSEs
  • Experience working with children, whether in a paid or voluntary role
  • Excellent role model who promotes pro-social choices
  • Experience with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
  • Calm under pressure
  • Empathetic and a good listener
  • Approachable and respectable
  • Proactive and quick to intervene or respond
