Milk Education are seeking a Learning and Behaviour Support with a strong background in Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Our school have a high number of pupils who also have an additional diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD.

This Secondary school use a trauma-informed approach, the staff work closely with pupils and families to develop positive relationships in order to remove barriers to learning and personal development. Our school believe that all behaviour is communication, and base the approach on thee core elements: celebration, restoration and de-escalation.

SEMH Learning Support Assistant Duties & Responsibilites:

  • Offer general classroom support to carry out directed learning activities
  • Provide support to individual students through planned and differentiated activities
  • Assist with students’ personal, behavourial and social development through appropriate advice and guidance
  • Act as a positive role model to students, making a lasting impact on their lives by demonstrating respect and responding appropriately through interactions with students and adults
  • Create an inviting and stimulating environment including the celebration of pupils’ achievements

SEMH Learning Support Assistant must haves:

  • Have experience working with pupils with SEMH / SEN in a school or alternative provision
  • Have the ability to differentiate work according to each child’s individual needs
  • Be resilient, show enthusiasm and commitment
  • Have good organizational skills
  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have knowledge about a range of interventions and their impact on meeting the needs of children with an EHCP
  • Be able to work on your own initiative
