SEN Teacher (Special Needs Teaching)Lewisham Are you interested in personalized learning?Could you contribute towards the mainstream re- integration of pupils whose primary area of needs are influenced by insecure attachment and/or ADHD barriers?Alongside preparing the right learning conditions through Assessment, Planning and Lesson delivery, you will be supporting pupils with the development of skills in self- regulation and more positive long- term objectives.If you believe this role is right for you, you will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of the dynamics of a range of family structures and be able to utilise a holistic, trauma responsive approach.The Role:Days Required – Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4:30pm (Full-time)Pay - £85 - £90 per day (weekly pay)Employment Type – Agency (Either Temporary to Permanent or Ongoing Contract)£31,650 - £40,439 + SEN Payments The Ideal Candidate will:To be considered for the role, the desirable candidate will have previous experience of working within a School, College or Alternative Provision. However, we will also consider candidates that have some of the following:
  • Has teaching experience either within special educational needs, preferably in the teaching experience.
  • Experience of coordinating provision and working with children who have Social, emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Knowledge of emotion coaching, TEACCH approach, PACE and the theory behind zones of regulation.
  • A Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certification. 
  • Experience of assessing pupils needs using a range of assessment tools.
  • A Clear understanding of racial literacy and how it influences learning.
  • A well- developed understanding of insecure attachment including trauma informed strategies to manage and support young people with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs.
  • Proven experience of working within a specialist provision for pupils with needs including SEMH.
  • Understanding the Six principles of nurture & how it influences learning.
Your Main Duties:
  • Assess the needs of pupils and facilitate stimulating cross curricular & multisensory opportunities to support the National Curriculum & “stages” of development.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate the impact of activities in a variety of settings, including one – to one and small groups.
  • Coach support staff to participate in delivery.
  • Support reintegration of pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs into mainstream classes.
  • Lead supervision of pupils who are not working to a typical mainstream timetable.
  • Build & maintain productive relationships with all pupils, acting as a role model and mentor.
