Butler Ross are pleased to be supporting a local council in London, who are looking to hire a Head of Procurement and Contracts on an interim basis, for an initial 6-month period (with potential scope for extension). This position operates on a hybrid-working basis, 1-2 days a week in office and is offering a £600-650 umbrella day rate (Inside IR35).

This position sits within their Housing & Regeneration Directorate, leading a team of 4, and focuses on the refurbishment and maintenance of an existing estate.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading internal and external teams on developing Housing Capital Works and Services contracts, as well as Compliance Works Servicing, from feasibility study to commencement of construction.
  • Leading the delivery of all contractual requirements, contributing to the delivery of the Council Housing Homes strategic objective by ensuring compliant contracts to deliver all supply chain requirements.
  • Deliver the supply chain requirements of service, including the required standards for capital investment programmes and housing compliance standards.
  • Lead on any contractual disputes arising from the contracts within the service, ensuring the Councils commercial position is protected.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Capital Programme, assist in producing work programmes within budget constraints to deliver against objectives and statutory obligations
  • Leading and Managing staff reporting into the position

Ideal Experience / Skillset:

  • Previous public sector experience
  • Prior experience with construction and/or housing projects
  • Strong experience across both procurement and commercial/contracts functions
  • Previous leadership experience (any sized teams)
