Head of Estates Sustainability£59,228 - £71,326 per annum UAL is a hotbed of creativity, innovation and invention across the knowledge economy. Reporting to the Associate Director Estates Sustainability, the Head of Estates Sustainability will play an instrumental role in supporting UAL to fulfil their Net Zero and social purpose ambitions. The role will lead them to reach their objectives focusing on waste, materials circularity and specifications, transport, construction and minor works projects sustainability. Working closely with the Energy Manager, who leads on their Net Zero Strategy for energy, and the wider Estate’s Sustainability Team. You will be joining UAL at an exciting time as they develop their current strategy and plans to achieve Net Zero across their total carbon footprint by 2040. Their actions to date have started to have a positive impact but they recognise there is more to be done and are committed to delivering this ambition. The Head of Estates Sustainability is one of several new roles that are being recruited to support this vital area of work for the University. Whilst you have a home department in Estates you will also work as part of a cross-institutional team, led by the Social Purpose Group, that will support and deliver their ambitious plans for Net Zero. This will be a rewarding post as you will drive institutional change and support their transition to Net Zero making a positive impact on the University community and the environment.The successful candidate will ideally possess Chartered Environmentalist status or be working towards it, alongside a Lead Environmental Auditor qualification (ISO 14001) or be in the process of obtaining it. A strong knowledge of climate change, materials circularity, waste and recycling in a commercial context, as well as climate mitigation and assessment, is advantageous. Membership in IEMA, RICS, or an equivalent professional body is also highly preferable. The role will suit a professional with extensive experience in managing environmental and sustainability systems and frameworks like ISO 14001. It would be an ideal career move for individuals who thrive in collegiate and collaborative environments.
