Temp Council Tax Adviser

Haringey

£22 per hour (umbrella)

Full Time Contract (3 Months)

Novax Recruitment is actively seeking a Temp Council Tax Adviser in Haringey. This is a contract with a scope for extension working full time hours.

The job:

  • Determine the correct liable party for Council Tax, Business Rates and BID levy in order for all required notices to be issued as soon as practicable
  • Provide high-quality professional advice, guidance and support in respect of Council Tax, Business Rates or BID levy to customers and external partners
  • Assist in the review of discounts, reliefs or exemptions to maximise revenue due to the council and identify and reduce incidences of fraud
  • Attend magistrates court liability order and other committal hearings in support of the Court Officer/Team Manager, assisting with the gathering of evidence prior to the hearing and interviewing customer who attend the hearing
  • Accurately calculate and create refunds where overpayments have been made

The candidate:

  • Proficient in the use of NEC and I@W processing systems
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience within a revenues team (preferably billing)
  • Ability to administer Council Tax and respond to all enquiries in line with legislation and council policy
  • Ability to negotiate payment plans on Council Tax debt
  • Ability to identify and sign post/support vulnerable and struggling customers
