Our prestigious Global Investment Bank client is seeking a highly experienced and disciplined contract Senior Project Manager to lead a flagship technical transformation project within its global infrastructure, focusing on network transformation. This is a critical role requiring a candidate who can effectively manage complex, multi-year projects across multiple countries and time zones.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Formal project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, MSP).
  • Background in financial services or other tightly governed industries.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors, procurement processes, and logistics for hardware and services.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills – must be able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to operate in a structured governance framework and maintain detailed and auditable records.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management practices.
  • Calm under pressure, proactive, and solution oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships quickly.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and best practices in a banking environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
  • Take over and manage the day-to-day delivery of a global network deployment project.
  • Quickly assimilate the current project state, plans, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder landscape.
  • Maintain and update project plans, ensuring milestones and dependencies are current and realistic.
  • Provide clear, consistent, and regular project reporting to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Own and manage the risk, issues, assumptions, and dependencies (RAID) log.
  • Manage vendors, including coordinating orders, delivery logistics, and ensuring performance to contractual commitments.
  • Track project financials accurately, report on actuals vs forecast, manage the forecast and the international transfer of budget, and escalate variances as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with regional and global teams to ensure alignment with broader infrastructure programmes.
  • Facilitate governance forums, including steering committees and working groups.
  • Escalate issues promptly, with recommended options for resolution.
Personality & Working Style:
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
