We are seeking applications from candidates with previous or transferable experience and skillsets to work in our team of Telecare Support Response Officers.

About the Service

SMART is a key service that provides a 24/7 365 day alarm monitoring and response service to circa 6,000 vulnerable people. Service users have pendant alarms and other Telecare devices to request assistance in a crisis e.g., where the client has fallen. SMART team officers monitor activations from clients and arrange assistance as necessary. Where it is appropriate to provide welfare assistance and support, a Telecare Support and Response Officer (TSRO) will be deployed. Due to the life-critical nature of the service, SMART works closely with the London Ambulance Service (LAS), the Police and Fire Service from time to time.

Essential Requirements

You do not need to have been employed in this capacity before, but any experience or skills you may have gained in similar sectors, such as ambulance service, fire brigade, or other responder capacity, will be acceptable. In addition, to succeed in this role. You will must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Up to date First Aid Training by a reputable UK provider.
  • Fire Evacuation Awareness training
  • Understanding of lifting techniques, as some of our clients will require assistance, when fallen
  • Submit to an Enhanced DBS Checks required for the role
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A good understanding of and empathy with regard to the needs of vulnerable people. In particular older members of the community.
  • The ability to think clearly and remain calm in difficult situations.
  • A clean current UK driving license and the ability to drive in Central London.
  • Able to work shifts, as required.
  • Carry out call monitoring duties as required.
