Water Mains Operatives (2x Man Crews 1st & 2nd Man).
South London.
Self-Employed - (Own Van & Equipment).
150-300 (Dependent on Accreditations & Authorisations Held).

Our client is a multi-disciplined civil engineering, utility contractor, self-lay provider specialising in groundwork, water mains and water networks. They offer a range of services including the replacement of infrastructure, specialised reinstatement and communications ducting. My client now also offer a trenchless Horizontal Directional Drilling service alongside our self-lay services.

Overall, Purpose of the Role:

The successful team will be responsible for the installation of mains and services to required standards in and around South London.

Job Role:

Mains renewal i.e. opencut/directional drilling/connections/ mains laying-butt fusion etc which is the required works. My client would be very interested in self-employed 2x man crews that can supply own van small tools.

  • Carry out safety checks and inspections to vehicles, plant, equipment and sites as instructed
  • Follow health and hygiene rules
  • Ensure that work is undertaken with due regard to the environment: prevent contamination to water supplies and water courses; maintain site cleanliness; prevent spills; minimise disturbance to members of the public; dispose of waste only as authorised.
  • Excavate holes using safe digging methods to avoid damage to underground utility apparatus
  • Manhandle materials, plant and equipment
  • Install water pipes and fittings to the appropriate standards ensuring that good jointing and hygiene practices are followed
  • Drive Company vehicles with due regard to the Road Traffic Act and other road users for authorised business purposes
  • Operate mobile plant for authorised business purposes
  • Maintain site, vehicle, plant and equipment tidiness and security
  • Install and maintain road works to 'Chapter 8' standard
  • Assist members of the public, clients' representatives and other officials in relation to Company business
  • Maintain safety, environmental and quality records
  • Report any accidents, near misses, faults, damages or defects using appropriate documentation
  • Undertake any other reasonable instructions given by management or supervision
