About the Role
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will play a crucial role in equipping students with essential culinary skills, knowledge of nutrition and an understanding of the food industry. You will be responsible for planning and delivering dynamic lessons, fostering a love for food and healthy living and preparing students for GCSE and vocational qualifications.
Responsibilities of the Food Technology:
- Plan and deliver fun and engaging lessons in Food Technology.
- Teach students about food preparation, nutrition and hygiene.
- Ensure that all cooking activities follow health and safety guidelines.
- Assess students' progress and provide support where needed.
- Work closely with other teachers to improve the curriculum.
- Encourage creativity and independence in practical lessons.
Requirements of the Food Technology:
- A qualified teacher status (QTS) specialisation in Food Technology or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Food Technology at the secondary level, including GCSE and/or vocational qualifications.
- Strong subject knowledge in nutrition, food preparation and health & safety regulations.
- A passion for practical learning, with the ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
- Experience teaching Food Technology at the secondary school level (ECTs are welcome to apply).
- Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
