Role Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Food Technology Teacher to deliver engaging lessons to students at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the curriculum, inspire creativity, and foster a passion for food, nutrition, and cooking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Food Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring lessons are engaging, creative, and educational.
  • Plan and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that covers a range of food-related topics, including cooking techniques, nutrition, food science, and food safety.
  • Encourage students to develop practical cooking skills and an understanding of healthy eating.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to both students and parents.
  • Lead and organize extracurricular activities such as cooking clubs, school events, and competitions.
  • Ensure a safe and well-maintained learning environment, following health and safety guidelines and promoting best practices in food preparation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure the integration of food education within the broader school curriculum.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in Food Technology or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school setting.
  • A passion for food, cooking, and teaching, with the ability to inspire students to engage with the subject.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a busy and practical classroom environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
