Our niche SME client as part of its growth plan is adding to their leadership team a part-time Financial Controller.

Working closely with the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will ensure a world-class financial management service is provided to this small group of companies and additionally provide the complementary analysis expected of a proactive business partner by an accountant who is more than just about the numbers.

Amongst a broad remit, some key areas of responsibility include:

  • Ensuring all monthly reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, reported, reviewed, and reconciled as appropriate to check for discrepancies. Accountable for making all necessary adjustments and provisions.
  • Managing, coaching, and developing any direct reports.
  • Preparing the monthly management accounts and continuously improving them to provide insightful information for management.
  • Production of rolling cash flow forecasts.
  • Work in close partnership with the MD and OD to provide accurate and comprehensive annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Identification of any problem areas and providing recommendations to senior managers.
  • Work with and provide information to the external Accountants for production of the year-end financial statements and tax return.

There are a number of other monthly, quarterly and annual tasks - as to be expected.

To fulfil the role, our client wishes to appoint a qualified accountant with a number of years PQE who has excellent analytical skills and is an advanced Excel user with knowledge of other Microsoft Office packages.

Ideally, gained in an OMB where you have covered off all the areas of a finance function, such as VAT, payroll, credit control, etc.
