We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our high-tech manufacturing team working in a cleanroom environment. The Mechanical Assembly Technician will play a vital role in the assembly of UHV manipulation and sample handling sub-assemblies, ensuring high standards of quality and performance. This is a hands-on role suited to a detail-oriented professional with experience in mechanical and electrical assembly.
  
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble complex mechanical and electrical components to specification, ensuring precision and quality.
  • Carry out specialist UHV-compatible wiring and electrical testing to support cleanroom standards.
  • Maintain UHV clean processes for all vacuum components and sub-assemblies.
  • Support the transition from prototype to production, including writing and updating manufacturing documents.
  • Maintain detailed records including test data, quality control logs, and instrument serial tracking.

  
Skills & Experience:

  • Experience assembling UHV-compatible devices and instrumentation is highly desirable.
  • Background in low-volume, customised product manufacturing preferred.
  • Skilled in precision hand-fitting, specialist wiring, and product testing.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with basic IT tools including Microsoft Office.

  
Qualifications:

  • Engineering qualification (Degree, HND, HNC) in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or time-served apprenticeship considered.
  • Experience in cleanroom or high-tech manufacturing environments advantageous.
