Hales Group is seeking an Supported Lettings Officer to join our client’s team on a temporary basis for 3-6 months supporting residents within the East Suffolk area.  You will work with some of our most vulnerable households to ensure that they are able to manage their tenancy and contribute positively to the community they live in.Key responsibilities of the Supported Lettings Officer;
  • Managing a caseload of people who have experienced a housing crisis, and provide a service that ensures that they build up the life skills and resilience to prevent future homelessness.
  • Understand the complex, multiple needs; develop trusting, non-dependent relationships to improve confidence and motivation to progress, enabling individuals/households to find their own solution to their housing need.
  • Refer to other service providers where needed or request assistance provided by the wider team and other specialist services
  • Liaise with landlords regarding related matters, such as potential breaches of the tenancy agreement and potential legal action and work towards saving the tenancy. Attending court hearings to provide evidence and represent our client as needed.
  • To conduct home visits to appropriate locations as and when is necessary, to assist in the investigation of households circumstances.
  • To have good understanding of the issues affecting affordability of housing including accurate understanding of benefits, benefit tapers, welfare reforms (current and proposed), employment and geographical trends.
  To be considered for the role of Supported Lettings Officer;
  • Substantial experience of working with a range of statutory and voluntary organisations in a Housing Related Support context, and specifically rough sleeping
  • Experience of working with complex and challenging caseloads/individuals
  • Ability to carry out thorough and comprehensive assessments and make decisions about referrals to the service, using standard professional tools.
  • CIH Level 3 Diploma in Housing Practice (BTEC Level equivalent).
  • Flexible and willing to work outside of normal working hours.
  • Full Driving License and access to a car to attend business meetings at other sites / locations within the district on a regular basis.
