Financial Controller

About the Role:My client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability, accountability, and efficiency of the Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and submission of accurate monthly and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements and regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and investment strategies.
  • Lead the budgeting process for the Trust and individual schools.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and policies.
  • Manage and mentor the finance team.
  • Continuously review and improve financial processes and systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification with significant experience in a financial management role.
  • Proven within a Multi-Academy Trust, educational setting, or non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and the funding framework for academies.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency in financial software and Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
