Job Description:

South57 Recruitment is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to join a reputable transport company based in Luton. If you have a minimum of 2 years of experience with heavy vehicles and are looking for a new challenge, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Main Duties:

Team Management:
Firstly, you will oversee a small team of technicians, administration staff, and cleaners, ensuring that everyone works together efficiently.

Vehicle Maintenance Scheduling:
Additionally, your role will involve managing the maintenance schedule for a fleet of approximately 80 vehicles. This includes addressing any defects that arise.

Daily Defect Checks:
Each day, you will review defect reports from drivers and organize the necessary repairs to keep the fleet in top condition.

Parts Ordering:
Moreover, you will be responsible for ordering parts and checking prices to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely repairs.

MOT Bookings:
Scheduling and managing MOTs for the fleet will also be a key part of your responsibilities.

Audit Preparation:
Furthermore, you will ensure all paperwork is in order for any company audits, maintaining high standards of compliance.

External Work Scheduling:
Occasionally, you will schedule and oversee a small amount of external work and brake tests.

Stock Management:
Maintaining appropriate stock levels of parts and tools will be crucial to your role.

Staff Meetings:
Regular meetings with staff will help ensure smooth operations and address any issues promptly.

Training Coordination:
In addition, booking training sessions for staff will ensure they are up-to-date with necessary skills and certifications.

Operations Liaison:
You will also communicate daily with the operations team to keep them informed of any vehicle off-road (VOR) statuses or vehicle progress.

Senior Management Meetings:
Finally, attending meetings with senior management as required will be part of your duties, ensuring alignment with company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with heavy vehicles.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Ability to work every other weekend.
