Our client is currently seeking a Data Technical Architect to join their team. This is a permanent position, offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced organisation that is transforming the way it stores, analyses and uses data.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical data solutions, including the design and development of logical and physical data models and databases for business solutions.
  • Offering technical expertise and guidance to development teams, ensuring standards are consistently upheld and quality practices are embedded early within delivery teams.
  • Leading the Data Engineering board by building and redefining patterns and standards for the data engineering teams.
  • Developing robust data pipelines to serve the analyst and data science community.
  • Proposing new technical solutions and leading POC activities for new technical solutions.
  • Ensuring best practices and patterns are followed and flagging any technical debt.
  • Setting and governing non-functional requirements for solutions/systems around performance, security, code maintainability, and supportability.
  • Working with the Technical Design Authority to ensure designs receive appropriate and timely governance.
  • Maintaining and enhancing documentation around current state Data Architecture.
  • Leading improvements to existing software, tools, and processes, particularly driving remediation activities.
  • Building a documentation library for all data pipelines and the data catalogue.
  • Collaborating with external parties, suppliers, and internal team members to define and document the architecture solution and high-level designs for projects and initiatives in the data domain.
  • Working in a fast-paced agile scrum environment with a release within sprint mentality.
  • Collaborating with a mixed team of onshore and offshore resources.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience with a combination of cloud-based Big Data technologies (e.g., HDFS, Blob Storage, Spark, Kafka, Delta, Hive, Airflow, and DBT) and OLTP and Data Warehousing within SQL Server or other RDBMSs.
  • Familiarity with Lake House Architecture and Databricks.
  • Extensive Data modelling experience from conceptual to logical models, taking long-term ownership of the data models and analytical products built on top of them.
  • Proficiency in building solution blueprints.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the data and analytical technical domain.
  • Experience with new technology awareness, evaluation, and selection, as well as running or supporting vendor RFI and RFP processes.
  • Good understanding of software best practices, including design principles & patterns, security, and performance.
  • Ability to take ownership of solutions and experience presenting them at architecture boards.
  • Methodical, logical, and flexible in approach, with significant experience as a Technical Architect.
  • Stakeholder management skills at the leadership level.
  • Ability to explain complex technical information in business terms.
  • Experience of working in a technology-based role and interfacing with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Airline or retail experience.
  • Knowledge of analysis and development techniques, e.g., SCRUM, Agile & Waterfall.
