Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Engagement & Co-Production Project Manager on behalf of Luton Borough Council.

Main purpose of position:

The post holder will project manage a three year fixed term contract engaging people affected by and living with cancer.

The post holder will line manage three 'Macmillan Luton Cancer Community Connector' posts. Those posts will delve deep into communities, building trust, long-term engagement and connections. The post holder will contribute towards the programme which aims to:

  • better understand barriers and challenges;
  • deliver insights to support behaviour change;
  • improve provision of the right cancer services;
  • tackle health inequalities;
  • co-develop services that support better cancer experiences

The post holder will work with stakeholders to provide community insight data to improve cancer services for users in Luton, particularly for those seldom heard populations.

The post holder will be informed by the three Macmillan Luton Cancer Community Connector posts and effectively communicate those insights clearly demonstrating and expressing community experiences with various audiences. The post holder will propose recommendations based on evidence and work with partners to co-produce, improve and redesign cancer services.

The post holder will coordinate project activity and is responsible for devising reporting structures and reporting on progress to a multi-agency steering group and other key stakeholders including community and diverse audiences.

The post holder will be able to work autonomously without substantial supervision, reporting to a Public Health Manager.

You will be responsible to:

  • Plan and project manage the initiative working with key partners and communities coordinating agreed programmes of work improving cancer experiences and reducing health inequalities in Luton.
  • Ensure that actions are developed in line with agreed project plan, to time and budget and grant management.
  • Be part of a coherent and co-ordinated approach to improving cancer experiences in Luton. Engage, negotiate, discuss and agree best options and best approaches to co- produce and co-deliver activity that improves cancer experiences and reduce health inequalities.
  • Analyse, interpret, compare and evaluate a range of data, including public/patient qualitative insights to inform recommendations, action and planning options
  • Report and present findings, recommendations and project progress in a way that is accessible, culturally sensitive, increases understanding of local need, and informs decision making with a broad audience.
  • Line manage the three Macmillan Luton Cancer Community Connector's and develop a professional and cohesive culture across the team that is sensitive to cultural needs while maintaining safe and professional boundaries
  • Work closely with partners including Macmillan, public health, health and social care, local communities, voluntary sector, Health watch, the public, particularly those seldom heard from and wider stakeholders.

Skills and Experience:

  • Plan and deliver successful activities that impact across multiple organisations, services and communities
  • Communicate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds in different settings, maintaining effective and appropriate relationships
  • Numerate, with developed analytical skills using qualitative and quantitative data and ability to interpret and communicate information to a varied audience
  • Organise and manage own workload/projects to agreed timescales and extensive experience in report writing
  • Project / program management improving health outcomes
  • Project management qualification or equivalent experience
