Our client is a well-respected privately owned business operating within the Construction & Projects Industry naming a number of key National House Builders as clients.

As part of the companies continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Head of Finance to join the business.

This will be the companies first full time senior finance hire and therefore excellent opportunity to scope and mould the position

Working from the companies Head Office nr Rugby (with hybrid) this position will work closely with the Owner / Managing Director taking ownership of both the financial control whilst having a key influence in the Financial Planning and Business of the Group.

This role does offer hybrid working and will also require travel across central England to 12-15 operational business sites.

  • Leading and managing 3 direct reports across the Finance, Procurement and Plant departments.
  • Implement detailed cashflow management across all group companies using a 13, 26 and 52 week forecasts.
  • Oversee, review and approve monthly board packs for seven group companies along with quarterly consolidated accounts.
  • Presentation of financial reports at the monthly board meeting and quarterly strategy meetings.
  • Responsible for budgeting and forecasting across the group.
  • Challenging at monthly CVR meetings - working closely with Commercial Director to control project profitability.
  • Liaising with Regional BU Leaders to interpret results and guide in decision making.
  • Review supply chain performance and negotiate rates and rebates from suppliers.
  • Strong monthly project costing and profitability reviews to ensure accurate project profitability reporting.
  • Overhaul the reporting framework to include weekly KPI's, dashboards, and a greater focus on direction of travel/forecasts.
  • Streamline the production of monthly board packs and introduced quarterly consolidated accounts with ROCE comparisons.
  • Reduce reliance on legacy software systems and optimised the reporting and functionality or New Systems

The ideal candidate will be formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and ideally have previous experience gained within a Finance Leadership position operating within the below Industries.

- House Building, Commercial Construction / Civils, Plant Hire, Ground Works, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

You will be an experienced finance leader comfortable with developing a small team within a dynamic business.

Being the No 1 in Finance, this role also retains a strong commercial & strategic focus with candidates needing to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Group Managing Director to help drive the business forward.
