Great role supporting Head of Finance in a wonderful school. Our client is seeking a part qualified accountant or someone with a recognised bookkeeping qualification, with a willingness to keep learning. You will be supporting accounting tasks, dealing with some procurement and credit control. You will also deal with any queries form budget holders.

Key tasks:

  • Supporting the Head of Finance with the monthly management reporting
  • Assisting with annual statutory accounts as required by the Local Authority, the Charities Commission and the Governing Board
  • Support audits and inspections
  • Undertake credit control activities and resolve related cash flow concerns
  • Support tendering processes under the direction of the Head of Finance
  • Monitor budgets and support budget holders
  • Liaise with the HR team in relation to the staffing budget and staff post numbers
  • Act in accordance with statutory requirements and the Finance Policy
  • Liaise with the local authority as required by the Head of Finance
  • Undertake financial analysis
  • Undertake reconciliations
  • Maintain financial records
  • Produce reports required by the Head of Finance
  • Develop own professional knowledge, skills and understanding through active participation in training

The person:

  • Part qualified accountant or recognised bookkeeping qualification
  • Willingness to qualify and continue professional development
  • Accounting or bookkeeping within an organisation and using relevant software packages.
  • Credit control and dealing with suppliers
  • Procurement and purchasing
  • Experience of advising and supporting budget holders
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Strong skills in financial analysis and attention to detail
  • Highly effective administrative and organisational skills with the ability to use ICT including Excel skills
  • The ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels within an organisation and outside agencies
  • Able to present financial information in a way that is accessible to the non-specialist
  • Ability to work independently
