A growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit a Senior Management Accountant to join its business services & outsourcing team, and the role will assist in facilitating the growth and demand that the firm is experiencing.

This is essentially an Outsourcing Accounts Manager role, and you will be responsible for the management and development of the business services department of the practice.

The role is based at the firm’s office in Maidenhead and along with a competitive salary and benefits package, with the option for hybrid working after the probation period.

The business services team provides an outsourced finance role for clients, effectively becoming their in-house finance and accounts department.

Reporting to the Business Service Partner, responsibilities of the Senior Management Accountant will include:

  • Preparation of management reports, maintenance of client records and ensuring that appropriate controls are carried out
  • Prepare management accounts and information specific to client requests
  • Potential to assist the accounts and general practice team with statutory accounts and corporation tax preparation
  • Ensure client control schedules are updated and that client reporting deadlines are met
  • Assist in job planning and workflow for outsourced finance work
  • Chasing clients where necessary to ensure tasks are progressed in a timely and efficient way
  • Manage and organise the appropriate processes/information receipt for outsourcing clients
  • Manage less experienced team members - motivate and train junior members of staff
  • Keep key staff informed and delegate administrative work where appropriate
  • Reviewing and authorising online client payments in Partner absence for outsourcing clients
  • Manage/prepare the online filing of VAT returns for clients, ensuring that procedures are in place for the checking of VAT returns including reconciliations and raising VAT queries
  • Monitor the recovery of fees on all work undertaken and where necessary recommend additional fees to be raised for additional or exceptional work undertaken
  • Business development and networking to promote the firm and meet prospective clients and nurture relationships
  • Assist with onboarding new clients, reviewing systems and controls, providing Xero training
  • Self-development - attend CPD training courses and develop relevant knowledge and skills
  • Maintain and uphold the ethical standards of ICAEW and the law and regulations purporting to money laundering and terrorist financing
  • Communicate directly with clients via phone, meetings and email

  • Staff management experience
  • Excellent IT skills and good knowledge of accountancy software, particularly Xero
  • Solid understanding of the key VAT rules and be proficient in VAT return preparation, review and submission
  • Strong attention to detail and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, to tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
