About the Role:
As a Senior Social Worker within our Safeguarding Team, you will play a vital role in providing expert advice, support, and guidance on complex safeguarding cases. You will mentor and supervise other social workers, contribute to service development, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centred practice. This challenging yet rewarding role requires strong assessment, analytical, and leadership skills, along with a commitment to continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload of safeguarding cases involving children and/or vulnerable adults.
- Provide expert consultation and support to other social workers on complex cases.
- Mentor and supervise social work staff, supporting their professional development.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure effective safeguarding practices.
- Represent the Local Authority in multi-agency meetings and case discussions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and service improvement initiatives.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with a relevant degree (DipSW, CQSW, BA/MA Social Work).
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualification experience in child protection and/or adult safeguarding.
- Proven experience of mentoring and/or supervising other social workers.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and the Care Act 2014.
- Excellent assessment, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and vulnerable adults.
- Enhanced DBS check.
