An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, hands-on Financial Controller, who will be responsible for leading the UK accounting team, as well as financial reporting, compliance and internal controls

Client Details

Our exclusive client are a global FMCG business with over 100 years of history. Based in mid-Kent (you will need to drive to be able to access the site), they work with a wide range of clients and customers, providing high quality produce.

Description

As the Financial Controller for the UK entity, you will lead a small team and report to the Regional Controller. You will take direct responsibility for the month end process and accounting activities for the entity, and will partner closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure strong alignment with business strategy and improvement to finance processes.

Your role will include:

  • Preparation of the financial statements in line with UK GAAP
  • Leading the team to complete month end activities accurately and expediently
  • Ownership of the balance sheet and all reconciliations
  • Implementation of tight financial controls and compliance
  • Managing the cash flow for the UK, liaising with the region / group as necessary
  • Liaising with external bodies as required (Tax, Audit etc)
  • Presentation of results to the senior leadership team

The business is also about to embark on the implementation of a new ERP system, so you will be heavily involved in the creation and implementation of robust new financial processes.

Profile

The ideal financial controller will have experience of working in a complex FMCG business, but those from sectors including food, fmcg, manufacturing and logistics will be considered.

You must however have a very strong technical skill set and be able to manage and motivate a small team to achieve deadlines and add value.

You must be:

- Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

- Have strong knowledge of UK GAAP / IFRS

- Be a strong team leader with excellent presentation skills

- Be able to work under pressure and to deadlines which may flex due to international stakeholders (UK, Europe, US)

- Strategic, technically strong, and commercially focussed
