Finance Manager - immediate start

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join a dynamic business. This role offers a varied set of responsibilities including managing month-end procedures. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the business owners and manage an Accounts Assistant, providing a fantastic opportunity for growth within the business.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage an Accounts Assistant and oversee their daily tasks.
  • Handle bank statement postings and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Raise sales invoices and credit notes, primarily to support and cover absences.
  • Address customer queries via phone and email.
  • Oversee credit control and manage debtor balances.
  • Process incoming purchase invoices and handle the coding and posting of overhead invoices.
  • Conduct reconciliation of supplier statements to ledgers and manage supplier queries.
  • Process credit card expenditures and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Carry out month-end reconciliations for cash books and manage VAT returns.
  • Post accounting journals and control account reconciliations (VAT, HMRC, Staff Wages, etc.).
  • Manage accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets including updating registers, posting depreciation, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and submit National Statistic reporting and handle payment requests, including keying payments on the bank for approval.
  • Recognise income – both deferred and accrued, and assist with profit and loss reporting for directors and year-end support.
  • Calculate commissions and provide holiday/absence cover across all finance roles to ensure continuity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Part or fully qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA etc).
  • Proven accuracy and a keen eye for detail.
  • Methodical and organised approach to work.
  • Supervisory experience within a finance department.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (desirable)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel.
  • Ability to work quickly, reliably, and independently while being hands-on.
  • Friendly and easy to get along with, enhancing team dynamics.
