Health & Safety Officer:

Location: Medway

Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience

Hours: 8am- 5pm. NO WEEKENDS

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Officer to lead, develop, and maintain their health and safety policies and practises. As a Health and Safety Officer, you will ensure compliance with current legislation, foster a strong safety culture, and implement initiatives to promote a safe working environment. We are seeking an effective and engaging communicator with the ability to guide and influence at all levels and have a hands-on presence to assist in driving change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and review all Health & Safety policies, procedures and risk assessments
  • Maintain external accreditations and be point of contact for all external stakeholders
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate risks
  • Investigate any incidents, near misses and hazards, providing detailed reports and recommendations for improvements
  • Proactively design and deliver health & safety training to employees and leadership team
  • Keep up to date with legislation changes and ensure compliance across the organisation
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and employees to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Manage the maintenance of health and safety records and documentation
  • Acting as a hands on leader, present on the production floor, assessing current processes and implementing new systems where necessary

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Proven experience working in a health and safety roles, within a manufacturing company
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification
  • Experience auditing and ISO management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Self- motivated with strong organisation skills
