What you'll do:
As an Assistant Financial Controller, your role will be pivotal in running a finance function that is incredibly well regarded. You will assist the Head of Finance and Financial Controllers in managing the finance operations across 8 European entities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing the preparation of monthly management accounts, supporting the Financial Controller with all finance tasks, and preparing supplementary returns to the overseas head office finance team. You will also work closely with the FP&A team to prepare detailed budgets and forecasts.
- Manage preparation of monthly management accounts for various trading businesses in the group
- Support the Financial Controller with all finance tasks
- Prepare supplementary returns to US head office finance team
- Investigate and explain variances to budget and forecast
- Collaborate with the FP&A team to prepare detailed budgets and forecasts
- Maintain a strong accounting control environment via monthly balance sheet reconciliation process
- Review month-end reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of differences
- Manage AR ledgers for relevant businesses
- Prepare annual financial statements for the statutory entity including liaison with external auditors
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Assistant Financial Controller position is a qualified accountant who is comfortable interfacing with all levels of management and staff. You should have excellent technical accounting knowledge and high-level IT literacy. Your ability to effectively delegate tasks while retaining responsibility will be crucial in this role. Strong organisational skills are essential, along with accomplished verbal and written communication skills.
- Qualified accountant - ideally ACA
- Ability to interface with all levels of management and staff
- Comfortable working in a large finance team of approx. 40 staff and liaising with all levels of staff
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge
- High level of IT literacy including use of databases (MS Access, Alteryx)
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks whilst retaining responsibility
- Strong organisational skills
- Accomplished communication skills, verbal and written
