Robert Walters are excited to be working in partnership with a leading PLC as they look to appoint a high calibre Group Accountant to join their impressive finance team in central Manchester. This role will suit an ambitious finance professional, likely trained within a top 10 accounting firm looking to move into industry, who wants to develop and progress down the Finance Director route within a listed business.

Your role:

  • Deliver the Group's statutory accounts to the strict timetables required as a leading PLC.
  • Work closely with the Group's external auditors to achieve a slick audit process.
  • Build strong working relationships with peers and the SLT across the function.
  • Production of the monthly Group Management Accounts and associated reporting packs.
  • Develop less senior team members including those progressing with finance qualifications.
  • Assist with the understanding and documenting of financial policies, procedures and processes and work with the Group to implement new policies where necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvements.
  • Undertake project work as the business looks to invest in several new initiatives.

You will be responsible for delivering the periodic regulatory accounting to PLC standards, immersing yourself within a culture of continuous improvement by seeking to continuously slicken processes and embed new controls, build relationship across the function and act as a key liaison partner to the external auditors.

Your as the Successful Individual:

  • Fully ACA/ACCA qualified, ideally with experience within the audit department of a large professional services firm.
  • Strong regulatory knowledge including IFRS/UKGAAP.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced business.
  • Confidence to balance workloads and adhere to strict deadlines without sacrificing the quality of work.
  • Ambitious and keen to progress within a PLC environment.
