Senior Accountant

Salary: up to £500 / day (inside IR35)

Location: Manchester (Hybrid)

Duration: 9 months fixed term contract

Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Senior Accountant for an instantly recognisable business based in Manchester.

You will play a vital role in helping to drive continuous improvements in accounting across the business. You'll be looking after one the subsidiary's balance sheet and financial controls and be the main point of contact for accounting support in the financial control team.

As a senior accountant, you will provide subject matter expertise on accounting standards and how to apply them across the business. You will make sure everything is completed on time and in line with the accounting requirements, and work with colleagues to quickly resolve any queries in your area.

General duties but not limited to:-

  • prepare and review complex balance sheet reconciliations.
  • review and re-engineer processes to remove inefficiencies, constantly looking to improve controls.
  • work alongside other internal teams to ensure financial processes are robust, efficient and fulfil all reporting requirements
  • support the ongoing cleanse of a large amount of data.
  • produce statutory disclosures for the balances.
  • work with external and internal audit, producing all required information for year end and interim audit processes.
  • assist with the production of the subsidiary statutory accounts.
  • work closely with internal colleagues across the business, as well as external auditors during group and statutory audits

The successful applicant will be a proactive, fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or ICAS) with experience in a similar role with a broad knowledge and understanding of IFRS accounting standards and preparation of statutory accounts coupled with experience of balance sheet control account reconciliation experience.

Due to the nature of this position it is necessary that the successful individual likes problem solving and analysing large amounts of data. You will have strong communicational skills as you will be the subject matter expert and will be asked to liaise with stakeholders of all levels, the ability to present information in a clear simplified way to both finance and non-finance colleagues, whilst maintaining their own work load. Focussed on delivering specific objectives, you will be proactive, adaptable, dynamic and self-motivated with a desire to find and deliver improvements.
