Assistant Accountant

As a Part Qualified Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in our finance team. You’ll support the Financial Controller and contribute to financial reporting and help ensure accurate financial records.

This is a hands-on role that will give plenty of autonomy after initial training and the opportunity to progress in a successful and profitable business.

The role will offer the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week after initial training.

Responsibilities:

Ownership of subcontract ledger - Working with commercial teams to ensure prompt accurate payments to our subcontract supply chain.
Working with the Group Purchase ledger team to ensure supplier payment practices are in line with prompt payment code.
Processing and auditing expenses, ensuring all expenses are in line with the company policy.
Raising sales invoices and owning the credit control process, ensuring invoices are paid on time.
Resolve finance queries quickly for both our internal and external stakeholders.
Processing Intercompany transactions.
Monthly BIKS return to payroll.
Assist with cashflow forecast.
Assist with VAT return.
Assist with month end closedown.
Assist with non-financial managers with cost management & forecasting against budgets.
Provide support to the financial controller.

Essential Skills and experience

AAT Qualified and ACCA/CIMA Part Qualified or equivalent
Proven work experience as a Finance Assistant, or similar role in the UK with experience of purchase and sales ledger processing
Experience in construction industry and awareness of CIS Tax is desirable
Intermediate Excel skills
Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.
Be able to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.
