This permanent position calls for a dynamic and proactive legal professional to support various stakeholders in achieving corporate objectives and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert legal advice across a range of legal, democratic, contract, procurement, and corporate information management services
- Supporting the Head of Legal Services with ensuring systems, processes, policies, and procedures align with statutory compliance and organisational objectives
- Investigating matters and allegations under Sections 5 and 5A of the Local Government & Housing Act 1989
- Assisting as the 'Proper Officer' for the preparation, publication, and retention of records for decisions taken by or on behalf of the organisation's Boards and Committees
- Initiating and leading the design and implementation of new policies, systems, and approaches
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FCILEX
- Relevant legal experience with a comparable organisation or public body
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage and investigate reportable incidents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Proactive, collaborative, and professional demeanour
- Understanding of the constitution and statutory requirements of public bodies
