Field Service Engineer - Controls and Automation

Manchester

I am working closely with an engineering consultancy specialised in industrial automation who are on the lookout to find an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their current team. You will be working across the process and manufacturing industries to increase their efficiency and competitiveness through better use of technology.


This full-time role will involve travelling to client sites all around the UK, but mostly within 100 miles of Manchester. You must be comfortable following directions and procedures, and taking responsibility for the delivery of work scopes. To succeed in this role you'll need to understand client requirements or issues, communicate these internally, then take responsibility for ensuring they are addressed efficiently and in line with quality, safety and security standards.

Ideally you will have an electromechanical background with some knowledge of Controls and Automation, however training can be provided for those with an engineering background with the willingness to travel and be client facing.


Main Duties

  • Constant communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive delivery of client service and support
  • Critically review procedures, documentation, method statements, etc.
  • Undertake site audits, assess client systems and procedures against best practice
  • Carry out in-house and client-witnessed tests
  • Support existing installations with maintenance services, disaster recovery and troubleshooting
  • Contribute to company's marketing and sales activities
  • Identify new business opportunities with potential and existing customers

Responsibilities

  • Work in accordance with the company's Code of Practice
  • Accountable for ensuring the quality of own and others work
  • Liaise with client to ensure work is to their satisfaction
  • Keep up to date on technological and regulatory developments within the industry
  • Work in partnership with colleagues to achieve company goals and objectives
