4Recruitment Services are seeking a Housing Enforcement Officer for our client based in Manchester.The role will be based within the Housing Team and will involve enforcement work within Private Sector Housing and your main contacts will be with private sector tenants and landlords/owners.You will be required to have a practical approach to applying enforcement legislation with an understanding of building construction and issues affecting both private sector tenants and owners.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Support with the delivery of the client’s statutory enforcement obligations and where necessary liaise with other departments or relevant bodies.
  • Deal effectively with requests for within designated timescales and maintaining accurate records of all relevant investigations, inspections and meetings
  • Provide technical and legislative advice in interpretation and enforcement of relevant legislation to officers across Neighbourhood Services. Assist in the review and translation of statutory regulations, legislation and national guidelines.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and maintain effective partnerships, linkages and greater coordinated working ensuring effective community and member engagement and clear channels of communication.
  • Ensure that complex information is interpreted to a high standard and potential solutions are communicated to relevant parties.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
  • Relevant experience in a regulatory, enforcement, or related discipline that can contribute to the team's work is also essential.
  • Qualified in Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) or willingness to work towards.
  • In depth knowledge, understanding and practical application of housing legislation including Housing Act 2004 or a degree in Environmental Health or an HNC in Environmental Health.
  • Excellent time management skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising, preparing in advance and setting realistic timescales for own self and others. Has the ability to visualise a sequence of actions needed to achieve a specific goal and how to estimate the resources required.
