Outside IR35 - 12 Month Work

Working out of the clients C&S team, the role will be responsible for the technical leadership and delivery of civil and structural advice, analysis, calculations, reports and specifications into the BP NZT & NEP project. The role will also be responsible for delivery of the wider multi-disciplinary engineering to programme and budget. Key disciplines to collaborate with include Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering.

Experience:

15 years minimum experience in Civil and Structural design with at least 5 recent years within the Oil & Gas industry. Experience with new and historic structures, optioneering assessments, defining scopes of work, supporting estimates and business development. Experience with Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Delivery, Commissioning and Handover of projects. Experience with Seismic Design preferred. This role is predominantly a Design Team role based out of offices part time, but will be required to support the delivery teams throughout the construction and handover stages. Ad hoc site visits to Teeside are to be expected.

Skills, qualifications:

Civil or Structural Engineering degree
Membership of a professional institution chartered or nearing chartership
Understand the principles of Process Safety and CDM
Experience working within the NEC suite of contracts
Deliverables:
You will report directly to the project Principal Engineering Manager and the responsibilities will include:

Produce and rationalise design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively and safely
Lead the engineering teams and support them with technical direction, guidance and approval of the team output
Forecast future requirements for engineers, designers and other specialists to support delivery to programme
Ensure that standard safe practices are utilised wherever possible
Provide estimates and feedback for proposals department
Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department
Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to Costain in order to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are coordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole
Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts
Support Project Controls through the management of activities and budget, identifying change, opportunities and working within our processes to action them
