Role: Principal Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer
Type: Mostly home-based, with one day from the office per week minimum. Full-time, Permanent.
Location: Greater Leeds Area OR Greater Manchester Area.


We're looking for a Principal Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer, near Leeds or Manchester.

Our partnered company is a technology-led environmental services consultancy, providing a one-stop-shop range of services to developer clients. Some of their recent projects include one of the UK's largest solar farms and complex logistics parks.

Joining an established team of hundreds of experts across all major disciplines of environmental technical services, you will experience interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge-sharing opportunities like never before, as well as hands-on project exposure to the industry's most challenging frontiers, including supporting the development of new sustainable energy sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking technical review of Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and Flood Scoping Reports;
  • Project management, fee proposals, and tenders;
  • Supporting staff in their undertaking of conceptual drainage design (incorporating SuDS);
  • Management and completion of Flood Risk Appraisals for investors and pension funds;
  • Product development and completion of other flood risk and drainage projects for existing and new and emerging markets, such as nutrient neutrality;
  • Building relationships with clients; and
  • Mentoring and line management of staff within the team to support their professional development.

Requirements:

  • UK consulting experience in flood risk and drainage;
  • Experience of using MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage or equivalent software (preferable);
  • Experience of using AutoCAD (preferable);
  • Experience using QGIS or other GIS software; and
  • Desirable to be a Chartered Member of a professional body, or actively working towards Chartered status.
  • Significant commercial awareness.
