Position: Department Leader - Geospatial Management
Location: Manchester

Join our client as a Department Leader, where you'll drive strategic initiatives, manage high-impact projects, and foster business growth. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring project success and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Department Strategy:

  • Develop and implement departmental objectives and strategies in alignment with company goals.
  • Break down strategic objectives into actionable plans and communicate them effectively to the team.
  • Promote the companys culture, vision, and values within the department.
  • Gather client feedback to refine and improve project direction.
  • Validate project scopes, manage risks, and engage stakeholders to monitor performance metrics.

Project Management:

  • Oversee geospatial management plans and survey activities.
  • Ensure safety and compliance of staff on-site.
  • Act as a liaison between the project team and employer representatives.
  • Provide technical expertise on spatial data and manage survey workflows.
  • Coordinate and plan project scanning activities, ensuring timely delivery of quality data.

Sales & Business Development:

  • Build and maintain relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business.
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop a robust sales pipeline.
  • Analyse competitor strategies and maintain industry connections.
  • Maintain professional memberships and stay updated with industry standards.

Tendering & Negotiation:

  • Assess client requirements and propose suitable solutions and pricing.
  • Ensure all proposals align with company processes and capabilities.
  • Manage commercial contracts and lead dispute resolution efforts.
  • Maintain client relationships throughout project implementation.

Management Objectives:

  • Implement effective project management processes and establish efficient project plans.
  • Communicate regularly with the team to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Provide training and performance reviews for team members.
  • Support HR processes and promote teamwork and staff development.

Quality, Health & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and internal policies.
  • Promote a safety culture and implement learnings from incidents.
  • Report quarterly KPIs and manage project-specific safety requirements.

General:

  • Provide leadership on technical and technology-related questions.
  • Discover and implement new technologies for competitive advantage.
  • Facilitate business growth by collaborating with clients and business partners.
  • Support organisational change initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Chartered Surveyor/Engineer.
  • Proven performance and operations management experience.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build trust and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • BIM experience is an advantage.
