An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced electrician to transition into a rewarding role as an Electrical Training Officer. Join a leading charity and training provider in the UK, dedicated to shaping the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

Job Purpose:

The Electrical Training Officer will provide high-quality assessment and support services, managing a caseload of apprentices in alignment with the Regional Business Plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with employers to source new apprentice placements and arrange college enrollment, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and assessment requirements.
  • Engage with schools and careers services to promote career opportunities to relevant audiences.
  • Conduct apprentice reviews and validate skills gap analyses to ensure accurate initial assessments and appropriate pathways for candidates.
  • Complete Pre-Placement Vetting for employers according to established procedures.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and Prevent policies, promptly reporting any concerns.
  • Assess evidence against National Occupational Standards (NOS) in line with company and awarding organization requirements.
  • Provide constructive feedback and establish SMART targets for apprentices.
  • Set indicative gateway timescales based on initial assessments and achievable learning objectives.
  • Support timely submission and mapping of evidence (VARCS).
  • Facilitate pre-End Point Assessment (EPA) training, confirming apprentice readiness at the gateway.
  • Identify apprentices at risk of non-completion and implement necessary interventions.
  • Collaborate with the monitoring team to address queries and issues from employers, learners, and related parties promptly and professionally.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, assisting with industry events and promoting products and services.
  • Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with awarding organization standards.
Person Specification:Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Electrician with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, Electrotechnical NVQ3, and Certificate in Electrical Installation Theory and Practice Level 3.
  • Verifiable industry experience as a qualified operative or practitioner.
  • Current IET wiring regulations certification (e.g., 18th Edition) or willingness to obtain upon appointment.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C, 9-4), NVQ Level 2, O-Level (A-D), or equivalent qualifications.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Recognized Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely).
  • Assessor qualifications (e.g., D32, D33, A1, or TAQA).
  • 2391 or equivalent Testing and Inspection qualification.
  • Knowledge of the building services engineering and related industries.
