MS556 - Electrical Operative  Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annumLocation: Trafford Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Electrical Operative on behalf of one of our clients. To carry out all aspects of electrical installation and maintenance works on street lighting assets / highway furniture.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all aspects of routine maintenance & fault repair including bulk change / clean of lanterns and sign poles, clean signs and bollards, excavate for column, bollard and sign foundations.
  • Completion of daily work records and risk assessments.
  • Working at heights of up to 12 metres & high demand for physical tasks.
  • Provide support to other contracts as required.
  • Responsibility for the security of plant, tools, materials and IT equipment.
  • Responsible for the safe use of vehicles and wearing all PPE.
  • Responsible for own health and safety and that of the public.
  • Accountable for achieving own performance targets adhering to and working to core values.
  • Working outdoors in an environment of varying temperatures and weather.
  • Attendance at regular tool box talks and all required training as necessary.
  • Any other tasks as required with the role.
  • There will be a requirement to work some unsociable hours and overtime and to undertake emergency call outs on a rota system.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Appropriate qualifications relevant to street lighting.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Abrasive Wheels (cut off saw), ECS card and CAT scanner (Highways).
  • ECS health and safety test, emergency first aid at work, fire awareness, HEA 302 – traffic management, IPAF use and inspection of harness, IPAF 1B vehicle mounted platform to 26m, manual handling, NRSWA – street works, ladders / step ladders user / inspector, NVQ L2 – street lighting maintenance.

Desirable:

  • C1E or C1 desirable, electrical qualifications desirable.
  • Banksman slinger signaller.
  • HEA training / qualifications desirable.
