We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Semi-Skilled Engineering Assistants to join Pump Supply and Repair Group.

This role offers the valuable opportunity to develop your skills working on a range of equipment by supporting the engineering team in the repair, maintenance, and assembly of various pumps, motors, and related equipment. We're looking for someone to provide hands-on technical support and a proactive attitude to assist engineers and technicians in the daily operations of the workshop.



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic mechanical tasks under the supervision of senior staff, such as dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling pump components.
  • Help with the testing and inspection of pump systems post-repair to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Perform regular inspections and basic maintenance of workshop equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the workshop, including handling tools, machinery, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness by ensuring proper storage of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including documentation of parts used and work hours.
  • Support stock control activities, such as receiving parts, cataloguing and organising inventory, and loading/unloading pump systems and components for delivery and installation.


About the Role

This Semi-Skilled Engineering Assistant role offers regular hours: 39 hours, working Monday to Thursday, 08.00 - 16.30, and Friday, 08.00 - 15.30, including a half-hour unpaid lunch break.

Develop your skills in a varied role: This is a workshop-based role, with occasional site visits to assist in installations or on-site repairs.

Your safety is our priority: PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided, and adherence to health and safety standards is mandatory.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an engineering or mechanical workshop environment, preferably related to pumps, motors, or mechanical systems, with a strong understanding of workshop safety procedures and protocols.
  • Education: A basic technical qualification or relevant mechanical/engineering certification is preferred.
  • Technical skills: Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery and a basic understanding of mechanical systems, with a focus on pumps and motors.
  • Physical fitness: Ability to perform manual labour, using mechanical lifting aids to lift and move heavy components.
