Sustainability Consultant - Manchester

We are currently recruiting for a Sustainability Consultant to lead and support the delivery of environmental certification across a diverse range of projects. If you have proven experience in BREEAM, WELL, Ska, and LEED, and are looking to make an impact across sectors including workplace, healthcare, education, historic, and sci-tech, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of environmental certification with support from senior team members.
  • Provide guidance to design teams in developing compliant and robust design strategies, including necessary evidence.
  • Support planning applications, LCA assessments, and construction site monitoring.
  • Review evidence and complete validation statements for submission to third-party certification organizations.
  • Get involved in workstreams related to:
    • Net-zero carbon strategies (operational and embodied)
    • Material lifecycle assessments (embodied carbon assessments)
    • Circularity assessments
    • Post-occupancy evaluations
    • Environmental management systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A formal qualification in sustainability, environmental management, or a related built environment field.
  • BREEAM Assessor qualification and/or BREEAM AP status, with experience working on BREEAM projects.
  • Experience with LEED, Ska, or WELL Building Standard assessments (WELL AP and LEED AP qualifications desirable).
  • Previous experience in sustainability within the planning, design, and construction industries.
  • Working knowledge of environmental legislation and its relevance to UK development.
  • A passion for sustainability, with experience implementing strategies that drive environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
  • Proficiency in materials lifecycle tools like OneClick LCA, and experience in circularity assessments.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical report writing and delivering presentations to diverse stakeholders.
