This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced audit and accounts professional to manage a diverse portfolio of clients, leading audits and delivering high-quality accounting services. The Role:As an External Audit and Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing audit assignments, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will also manage a team of auditors and accountants, providing leadership and technical expertise to ensure successful client engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients across various sectors, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Leading audit assignments from planning to completion, including fieldwork and reporting.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Conducting risk assessments and identifying key audit risks and areas of focus.
  • Reviewing and finalising audit work papers and reports, ensuring compliance with audit standards.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for audit and accounting queries.
  • Managing a team of junior auditors and accountants, providing coaching and technical guidance.
  • Ensuring that all client deadlines are met, and projects are completed within budget.
  • Identifying opportunities to offer value-added services to clients, including tax planning and advisory.
  • Staying up to date with changes in accounting and audit regulations and ensuring compliance.
  • Assisting with business development, including winning new clients and growing the firm's audit and accounts practice.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 5 years' experience in external audit and accounts.
  • Proven experience managing audits and preparing accounts for a range of clients.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards (UK GAAP, IFRS).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
  • Experience with audit and accounting software such as CaseWare, Xero, Sage, or similar.
  • A proactive and commercial mindset, with the ability to identify business development opportunities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
