Faade Technician Role (February 2025)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and professional Faade Technician to join a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy providing high-quality surveying, engineering, project management, and fire safety services across England and Wales. The Role

A talented Faade Technician is sought to join the highly skilled faade and engineering team, delivering investigation, due diligence, and construction oversight services. This role also involves collaboration with project management and cost management teams, contributing to the successful delivery of large-scale faade and cladding replacement or remediation projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting intrusive investigations of existing buildings, including coordinating opening-up works, sampling, and testing of faade and cladding systems.
  • Assessing the configuration and material composition of external wall systems, including insulation products, fire safety ratings, fire breaks, cavity barriers, and fire stops.
  • Providing expert advice on compliance and risks associated with external wall systems.
  • Compiling site investigation data to inform FRAEW processes and other assessments, including Building Regulations compliance reviews.
  • Monitoring and inspecting construction works to ensure compliance with contract conditions, industry best practices, design specifications, and legal requirements.
  • Performing technical and quality assurance audits, tender reviews, RFIs, and due diligence assessments.
  • Overseeing cladding remediation projects and preparing detailed, high-quality monitoring reports.
  • Resolving technical queries, assisting with design reviews, and ensuring project implementation aligns with best practices.
  • Working collaboratively within project teams to provide specialist technical input.
  • Measuring and sampling building materials to assess quality and suitability.
  • Producing high-quality reports, correspondence, and documentation.

Location & Flexible Working

This role will be based out of Manchester, with national coverage primarily across England and Wales. Site inspections and meetings will be required, and hybrid working arrangements will be available, combining office and remote work.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should possess:

  • A minimum of five years of industry experience within a consultancy or engineering firm, with at least three years of direct experience examining external wall/faade construction or overseeing the installation of faade systems.
  • A degree in building, engineering, or a related field and/or membership or associate membership of a relevant professional organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of various faade types, fire safety measures, and good building design principles.
  • Strong ability to assess construction works and provide oversight inspections.
  • Experience reviewing design, engineering, and construction documentation, offering specialist input, and resolving technical issues.
  • Familiarity with contractor technical audits, tender reviews, RFIs, and due diligence assessments.
  • A solid understanding of relevant Building Regulations and statutory requirements, particularly concerning fire safety and construction best practices.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
