Head of Group Payroll | Stockport | Highly Acquisitive PE Backed organisation | £60k-£70kRole OverviewAxon Moore are working on behalf of a rapidly growing, acquisitive organisation based in the Stockport area who are looking for an experienced and high calibre Payroll specialist to join the team.The role will report directly to the Head of Group Finance, an individual with a fantastic track record for the ongoing development of their team. The successful incumbent will also play a key role at Group Level, providing invaluable experience across the payroll function and building a team that can deliver to the highest quality.We are keen to speak with individuals who have proven experience working in a large organisation with a complex payroll structure, whilst also boasting a track record of function development.   • Continue the development of a group wide payroll function, building a best-in-class platform that is built to enable scalability as the business continues their trajectory.
  • Play a key role the development of a robust system that ensure data accuracy, and a reduction of manual systems.
  • Business partner with the HR function for reporting purposes.
  • Day to day management of a small payroll team.
  • Operate the payroll function for a multiple entity business.
  • Ensure people accurately adhere to the start and lever process, ensuring all statutory compliance is followed.
  • Collation of timesheets.
  • Ensure accuracy of external reports to HMRC.
  • Support the annual external audit process.
  • Support the team to resolve any ongoing payroll queries.
  • Submit monthly pension to external providers.
  • Prepare cost journals for PAYE payroll.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Distribute relevant communications to employees i.e. payslips, P11d’s
Person Specification:
  • Self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative.
  • Strong business partner capability, partnering with a wide variety of senior stakeholders.
  • Proven record in managing centralised Payroll functions and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes with high attention to detail.
  • Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skillset.
  • Experience using Payrite and Mitrefinch is essential.
